Nokia Launches Open-Source Browser

Nokia Open-Source Browser

Symbian Series 60 (3rd Generation) users can now enjoy Nokia’s new open-source-based web browser. Built upon Apple’s Safari web browser, the new application supports HTML and JavaScript. What’s more, the browser will also double as an RSS reader!

The browser will display Web pages to mobile phone users exactly as the Web site developers designed those pages, Nokia said. The browser includes pop-up blocking software, access to RSS feeds, and a text search feature.

I wonder how it compares to Opera Mobile; which I thought was great. So far there is no response Opera, which currently offers their browser for Windows Mobile and all Series 60 phones. I await a non Windows/Symbian version of their product to arrive here (for free).

See it in action here.
