Advertising Subsidized Cellular - One Step Closer to Reality

November 10th, 2005 | by amarfresh |

Advertising subsidized cellular service has moved one-step closer to fuition. A second patent was awarded to PromoTel for software which will enable the replacement of a standard ring. (Their first patent was for the hardware component.)

Instead of popular music ring-back tones, PromoTel estimates that replacing music content with advertisements would generate close to USD$14 billion in revenue for major telecoms like AT&T, Verizon and Sprint.

Couple this with Motorola’s Screen3 technology, a whole bunch of startup capital and we are ready to roll.
